Three July 4th Recipes from Zweber Farms

This weekend we will be celebrating our nations 234th birthday. The Fourth of July holiday is best celebrated with a charcoal grill, a cold beverage, good friends and family and of course fireworks. Our family loves to celebrate special (and not so special) occasions with food. Here are some good choices for this weekend:

Roasted Red Pepper dip: (adapted by Emily)

  • 1 8oz packet of Organic Valley cream cheese
  • 1 4oz block of feta cheese
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • salt and pepper to taste
  1. Cut red pepper into strips and place cut side down on broiler pan. Broil 6-8 min. Remove from broiler and using tongs, place hot peppers in a ziplock bag. Let peppers rest 15-20min. Peal off charred skin and cut into chunks.
  2. Combine peppers and remaining ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Chill mixture for several hours or over night.
  3. Serve with pitas, veggies or our favorite Whole Grain Milling Blue Corn Chips.

Basic Zweber Farm Burger

Since our ground beef is super lean, you need to be careful when making hamburgers. The key is cook them over medium heat and to only flip them once.
  1. Combine ingredients and form into four patties. Grill on medium heat until well done (about 5 minutes on each side)
  2. Melt cheese over burgers and serve on buns with choice of toppings

Raspberry Sherbet

This recipe is from the Stonyfield website. Did you know that Stonyfield and Organic Valley have a partnership? Some of  our creamy milk perfect for ice cream and yogurt goes to Stonyfield. It is great way to keep things local.
  • 1 cup Stonyfield Gotta Have Vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  1. Puree raspberries and honey. Beat frozen yogurt into raspberry mixture until pureed and freeze.

YUM! Happy Birthday United States of America
